The e-Gov On-Line service of the Consumer Agency is protected by Secure Socket Layer connection - SSL (or Verisign). This means that all communications over the Internet are encrypted. The user of the service can see this because when he registers and enters his account the http reference of the website changes to https. On the secured website a padlock also appears in the right hand corner of your web-browser. This way the user can always verify and check if the webpage in concern is secure or not Registering with the e-Gov On-Line of the Consumer Agency the user will receive a username and password instantly by to his registered e-mail address. This information is also delivered to him by regular mail. The password is encrypted in the database system and only the registered user has access to his password. If a password is lost the database system will develop a new password when the user will click on FORGOT YOUR PASSWORD button on the front page of e-Gov On-Line website of the Consumer Agency. The password will eliminate non authorized persons to enter the user account and the user is responsible for all transactions and communications that are made with use of his or her password. If any suspicion arises that another and non authorized person has obtained or knows the personalized password the user is recommended to change his or her password immediately. This is possible within the e-Gov On-Line website on “My pages” -> “Change password”.

It is recommended to change at regular intervals your password for security reasons. The password must be at least 8 digits. The password can be composed of letters and/or numbers or combination thereof. The account holder has solely overview of all his submissions at the Agency. Individual employees of the Consumer Agency only view the submissions and notifications that they are permitted to access on the basis of division of tasks between employees and divisions of the Agency.

Data filing

The datasystem and all personal data that users of e-Gov On-Line can access and view are stored at the hosting service of ANZA ltd. www.anza.is a company that is specialized in the maintenance and operation of information systems according to strict set of security rules regluted by the Company’s BS 7799 Security Cerification which objective is to restrict all non authorized access to personal data belonging to the users of the datasystems. Furthermore all data communications are routed through secure networks and is encrypted during transmissions

How do I register and establish an account at e-Gov On-Line?

NOTE: Only Persons that are residents of Iceland and have personal identification numbers can register.For further information on personal identification numbers please contact the National Registry www.thjodskra.is.

If you have not already registered and established your account you should enter your Icelandic personal identification number by entering "Registration". Follow the guidelines and you will receive instantly a username and password to the e-mail address that you have entered upon registration of your account. Subsequently you are able to enter your account be entering "Sign in". Click on the relevant fields and fill in username and password. Then click on "Logon"

I lost my password!

A:

If you have lost your password you can click on "Lost your password?" link which is located at the "Sign in" or go to the tab marked "Lost password?" . Here you reenter your Icelandic personal identification number and click on "Send". A new password will be instantly delivered to you to your e-mail address which you entered upon initial registration of your account. This new password will enable you to reenter to your account again. It is recommended that you immediately change your new password and personalize it for further personal security of your account.

What are anonymous notifications?

In those cases that users of the e-Gov On-Line prefer to enjoy anonymity it is possible to submit anonymous notifications. In order to send an anonymous notification click on the grey box ¿Send anonymous notification¿ located on your right hand side on the webpage, then select the relevant category, and subcategory when that is applicable, and then click on ¿Continue¿. Subsequently you will see on your screen an overview of what you have done and your choice of categories. If all the information is correct and sufficient the clike ¿Send¿. Your notification will be processed and handled by the Consumer Agency as appropriate.
